Meet the INSTRUCTOR Behind Step by Step School of Ballroom Dance in Redding, CA
Kathy Babcock
Kathy began dancing at age 5 with classes in ballet. Then, as a young adult, she expanded her dance training to include ballroom, jazz, and tap. In 1979, she became a ballroom dance instructor. Since then, she has taught a variety of dance forms (ballroom, jazz, tap, ballet, country/western, and aerobics) at various locations in the San Francisco Bay Area, on board Princess Cruises’ ships, and in Redding.
Since moving to Redding in 1989, Kathy has also choreographed several community ballroom dance, musical comedy, and jazz dance productions. Some of these have been annual events (i.e., Foothill High School’s Club Cougar, Shasta College musicals, & Dancing with the Stars Shasta County Style) and have included all age groups from children through older adults.
Kathy continues to expand her knowledge of dance by attending dance classes and workshops regularly and performing in dance concerts and recitals whenever possible.

Through the instructor’s encouraging and inspiring teaching style, you will expand your knowledge by learning easy and fun step patterns which are slowly and clearly explained. As you progress, your step execution will be enhanced by styling and technique tips. In addition, you will experience the joy of dancing as you express your creativity, connect and move in harmony with your dance partner, and become more graceful and confident in your dancing. You will experience greater confidence in any social setting as you put others at ease with your partnering skill.
